Tyler Tongson is a rising freshman at Trinity Preparatory School. Tyler is a scholar in Latin, having won the Latin Class Award in both 2022 and 2023. His dedication extended to competitive arenas, where he placed fourth in Phrases, Mottoes, Abbreviations, and Quotations exam II and placed first place in Greek Derivatives II at the Regional Latin Forum in 2024. He then placed fifth in the Phrases, Mottoes, Abbreviations, and Quotations II exam at the 75th Florida Junior Classical League State Latin Forum. Tyler also competes in FIRST® robotics and has recently placed at the FIRST® Robotics FTC Florida Championship as a division alliance finalist, for which they were invited to compete at the 2024 FIRST® World’s Championship in Houston, Texas. He is also a part of the Trinity Varsity Volleyball Team, where he earned the Rookie of the Year Award. Along with his school’s team, he plays at the Winter Park Volleyball Club, where he earned the position of team captain in his very first year of playing. Tyler has also been inducted into the National Juniors Honor Society and the Headmaster's List from 2022 to 2024. He has served as Sixth-grade Student Council President in 2022, Seventh-grade Student Council Secretary in 2023, and the Middle School Student Council President in 2024. In addition, he is a part of his school’s Builder’s Club where they work with UNICEF on projects that improve the wellbeing of the local community. Tyler was then awarded the Saint Award in 2023 for exhibiting the qualities Trinity Preparatory School values most in a student.
