What is this issue?
There are many reasons why this has become an issue. The main reasons are pollution, climate change, and poverty. As a result, about 1.1 billion people need access to water, and 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year. In addition, 2.4 billion people lack adequate sanitation. This causes people to be exposed to diseases such as cholera, typhoid fever, and other water-borne illnesses. The worst part is that about 2 million kids die each year from diarrheal diseases due to lack of clean water.
